Frontier Co-op® Nutritional Yeast Mini Flakes are a healthful non-dairy cheese substitute and seasoning made from a single-celled organism, Saccharomyces cerevisiæ, grown on a mixture of cane and beet molasses. To create these flavorful flakes, the yeast is harvested, washed, pasteurized and dried with heat to deactivate it. When the yeast is inactive, it doesn’t act as a leavening agent and instead adds creamy texture as a cheese substitute or flavorful nutty taste as a seasoning to recipes and snacks.
