Medicago sativa
Perennial, leguminous crop which is tap-rooted and very cold hardy. Its high protein and mineral content, and ability to grow back after cutting make it excellent for forage, composting, and soil building. Sow in early spring or late fall. Seeding rate of 0.5 lb per 1000 sq ft or 15-20 lbs/acre broadcast.
