Description
Zingiber officinale
Nothing beats fresh ginger from the garden. Its rosey translucent skin is irresistible and has a mild flavor. Originating from Asia this plant thrives in the summer heat and can be easily grown in zones 8-11.
Ginger should be sprouted indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and can be transplanted outside after all danger of frost is gone. Ginger plants should be harvested before the first frost to prevent rhizome damage.
Three to four rhizomes per 6 ounces. Rhizomes do not come sprouted. Rhizomes must be pre-sprouted indoors before planting outside.
