Barbara Lund of OH sent Yellow Brandywine seeds to Craig LeHoullier in 1991. She told Craig she received the variety from Charles Knoy of IN. Craig enjoyed the tomato so much he distributed them in the seed saving circles to be grown out and offered for sale. No one knows how or where it came from before this. There is no mention in old seed catalogs of a yellow Brandywine so in all probability it is not related to the Red Brandywine. This sunshine yellow variety is more full-flavored than most other yellows, with a tart and tangy balance to its sweetness and delicious flavor. Fruits are large and slightly ribbed, sometimes reaching up to two lbs. but most often weighing between 10 and 16 oz. Production is average and maturity can be slow, but most agree the flavor is well worth the wait!
