Description
Solanum lycopersicum
An impressive sibling to the well-known Cherokee Purple tomato, considered to be one of the most delicious green-when-ripe varieties. While equal in size to it’s Purple and Chocolate kin, , this variety stays green and develops a blush fading to pale yellow at the blossom end. The talented tomato guru Craig Lehoullier found this green tomato growing in his garden in 1997 from a Cherokee Chocolate planting he’d made. It has been stabilized and continues to grow green fruit. It could have resulted from a cross, or could possibly be a mutation as many people think it tastes just like Cherokee Purple but others think it tastes a little different and actually like it better than Cherokee Purple. Try them and decide!
