Description
Cucurbita moschata
Tromboncino squash, also known as zucchetta, grow loooong necks which curl in fanciful shapes. Fruits are best when harvested at 8 to 18 inches long, and have a slightly sweet flavor. While most summer squashes are of the species Cucurbita pepo, Tromboncino squash is Cucurbita moschata, which means it is more resistant to common summer squash pests and diseases like vine borers and powdery mildew. And, unlike other summer squash, these vining plants can be trained up a trellis for better fruit quality, and to save garden space!
