About- A heavy producer that sends out 30-36″ tender red-green stalks. Rhubarb has a delightful tart flavor that is excellent for sauce and pies. Rhubarb started from seed can take more than a year to produce stalks, but will provide an abundant harvest for many years to come!
When and Where to Plant– To speed germination, soak seeds in water for 1-2 hours before planting. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date. Prefers a soil temperature of around 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit to germinate. Plant in an area with loose, well-draining soils.
Care and Harvest– Rhubarb started from seeds can take more than a year to produce stalks, and at least two years to produce a decent harvest. Grow in an area with full sun and fertilize twice each year.
