Description
About- This heirloom variety is a well known among home gardeners as it is a very popular variety, commonly found at local produce markets. The large, dark green heads can grow up to 8″ in diameter. Excellent eating qualities and flavor when grow as a fall crop.
When and Where to Plant– Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior to planting them in the garden. Plant seedlings outdoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost in the spring and for a fall crop in zone 6, direct seed mid to late May or plant transplants the first week of July.
Care and Harvest– Keep plants well watered throughout the growing season. Harvest when the buds of the head are firm by cutting the stalk of the main head at a slant. Eventually smaller side shoots will grow out from where the cut was made.
